Key to an entrepreneur’s success is confidence in oneself, and in one’s powers and abilities. Self confidence inspires confidence of others. After all, we hesitate to back an idea presented by someone who is nervous and overly apologetic. However, we are likely persuaded to support a project pitched by one who speaks clearly, answers questions with certainty, and who readily admits not having all the answers.

One can build self-confidence and strengthen it by experiencing success, learning from mistakes, and building a tool-kit. Here are six areas to employ that will empower self confidence.

COURAGE. Daring to meet your fears and doubts, and managing them increases confidence. Let your passion fuel you to press on and thwart apprehension and insecurity. Trust your self and your vision.

COMPETENCE. Knowing you have the ability to take action when needed to achieve your goals builds confidence. Develop a plan to support your effectiveness. Learn new skills to build abilities. Accomplish practical tasks to further understanding. Honor your instincts.

Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell ’em, ‘Certainly I can!’ Then get busy and find out how to do it. ―Theodore Roosevelt

COMMITMENT. Set up your business with determination to see it prosper. Come up with ideas with dedication to the journey. Take steps toward your goal with steadfast devotion.

Appreciate that where you are is where you need to be. Fortify steadfastness even under duress. Regroup when overwhelmed. Organize when chaos hits. Focus when you find  yourself distracted. Carry on until your goal is reached.

The secret of success is constancy to purpose.—Benjamin Disraeli

CONNECTION. You don’t have to go it alone. Asking for help is a responsible, intelligent option. Make a list of people you can turn to and keep it handy as you move forward with your dream. Social wellness is a pillar of self-confidence. Love, understanding and compassion increases fulfillment and confidence. And it helps you through challenging times.

A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality. ―John Lennon

CLARITY. Awareness builds confidence. Know your self. Understand your feelings and what they represent. Express your emotions appropriately to prevent blockages. Be aware of your limits—what you are willing to do to get what you want, and, what you a willing to let go. And, know what you need enjoy the process while doing what is required to reach your goal.

Build your self-confidence by finding clarity of vision, building connection with those who can support your efforts, pursue your goal with constancy, let your commitment and courage carry you.
